Sodexo Stadia Staff Take Top Honours At Industry Awards

The catering company behind some of the UK’s leading sporting venues scooped a string of top accolades at an industry awards celebration.

Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events teams from across the country swept the board at the Stadium Events and Hospitality Awards 2017, held at Anfield in Liverpool on Thursday 1st June, picking up eight accolades.

Held annually to recognise the UK’s best football and rugby stadia venues, the awards attracted entries from scores of sporting venues across the country, but it was Sodexo staff who impressed the judges in several categories.

The biggest winner was Hampden Park, Scotland’s National Stadium, which clinched the Overall Matchday Hospitality and the Matchday Hospitality Large Stadium awards, as well as receiving a bronze accolade in Chef Team of the Year.

Scottish venues also fared well in two other categories, with Aberdeen Football Club’s Pittrodrie Stadium taking top honours in the Non Matchday Mystery Shopper category while Dundee United ground Tannadice Park took bronze in the Matchday Hospitality Small Stadium category.

The Chef Team of the Year prize went to the team at Goodison Park, home of Everton Football Club, who won for the second year running, after impressing the judges during a live kitchen event held at the Hospitality Show at the NEC, Birmingham, earlier this year.

Newcastle United’s St James’ Park was the winner of the Directors Choice Award sponsored by fcbusiness, voted for by club directors visiting away matches, while the American Express Community Stadium in Brighton won the Media Choice Award, decided by visiting media who attend matches across the country.
