Danny Jordaan to give World Cup Insights at Leaders

Danny Jordaan the CEO of the 2010 South African World Cup, will return to Leaders in Football for 2010. Jordaan will be discussing the lessons learnt from the World Cup as well as the giving the 1000 delegates and international media in attendance an inside look on what it is really like to host the world’s greatest sporting event.

 

He will be speaking on Day 1 of Leaders in Football, where the conference theme will focus on the FIFA World Cup and specifically the merits of, and challenges facing, each nation bidding to become the hosts in 2018 and 2022.

 

Jordaan is best known for leading South Africa’s Football World Cup hosting in June this year, this is the first time a World Cup has been held in Africa, but his contribution to sport and politics in South Africa spans many years as a former lecturer, politician and anti-apartheid activist.

 

Jordan was elected CEO of the South African Football Association in 1997 and since then has worked tirelessly to promote the sport of football in his country as well as promote the country to the world. He has served FIFA in numerous capacities, including, as a General Co-ordinator for the Youth World Cup (now FIFA U-20 World Cup), 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan. He was also a match commissioner for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and a member of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee.
