AFC Fylde Community Foundation Strikes Deal With United Utilities

Tue 18th Jul 2017 | Fan Engagement

AFC Fylde Community Foundation is launching a new outreach programme to promote social inclusion to those aged over 60 in Preston and Kirkham.

Launching in July 2017, the twice-weekly sessions will be free to attend and are designed to improve physical wellbeing through gentle exercise.

The new programme has been made possible by a Community Fund supported by United Utilities, which has awarded £20,000 to the AFC Fylde Community Foundation to deliver outreach over the next two years.

The foundation’s Health and Wellbeing Team, led by Nathan Davies, will deliver the programme to enable up to 40 residents to access four hours of physical exercise each week.

A spokes person for United Utilities, said: “We’re delighted to have played a part in this new outreach programme, which will have such a positive impact within our local community.”

Tom Hutton, director of community development at the AFC Fylde Community Foundation, said: “The health and wellbeing of the community is the number one priority for the foundation and we’re delighted to receive funding from partners, such as United Utilities, to help us to continue our work.

“We have already seen success from similar schemes in Preston, where over 100 adults are engaged in social inclusion activities each week and we’re confident that the activities will prove popular with residents in Kirkham and Lytham too.”
