Legends from the world of football were out in force last Thursday (30th September) when Soccerex marked the launch of its European Forum with an exclusive event at Manchester’s Deansgate Hilton Hotel.

Famous names such as Denis Law, John Barnes and Ossie Ardiles were all in attendance as Soccerex chairman Tony Martin unveiled details about Europe’s leading football business event, which returns to Manchester in March 2011, bringing the football fraternity together for two days of debate, networking and socialising.

The European Professional Football Leagues association have already confirmed that they will be holding their AGM at the Soccerex European Forum 2011, while it was also announced that next year’s event in Manchester will include an update on the 2012 European Championships from UEFA Tournament Director, Martin Kallen, and a speech on football finance from UEFA Head of Club Licensing, Andrea Traverso.

Also in attendance on the night was former England footballer, Geoff Thomas, whose charity, the Geoff Thomas Foundation, was announced as a new partner for the European Forum 2011.

Host for the evening Matt Lorenzo rounded off proceedings by inviting footballing legends Nobby Stiles, Johnny Giles and Alan Hudson on to the stage for a lively debate as the ex-pros shared stories from their illustrious playing careers.

Stewart Castledine, Head of Football at Soccerex, commented: “It was great to be back in Manchester and to see so many familiar faces from across the industry - the city was a fantastic host for the inaugural event earlier this year and following Thursday’s launch party we can all start looking forward to the 2011 event.”
