Eleven Sports Media have picked up the Best/Most Innovative Use of Technology Award at the Football Business Awards following their work at Middlesbrough Football Club, alongside technology partners ADI.

Eleven worked closely with ADI to deliver a ground-breaking stadium-wide digital communications platform at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium.

Boro’s investment in cutting-edge digital out of home technology such as Crowd Facing digiBOARD and StatZone digital content channels has formed part of a wider record-breaking partner programme for the Teesside club.

The revolutionary system integrates the world’s first 360° digital pitch perimeter LED system which via the Crowd Facing element features Eleven’s live match StatZone stats and social media content every match day.

The platform also links in with the club’s stadium screen and a network of 70 new StadiumTV and StatZone displays, which delivers exclusive programming, unique StatZone content, social media, news, and exclusive video content to fans throughout the Riverside.

Eleven have developed both the StadiumTV and StatZone fan engagement platforms and they are now live in more than 60 sports stadiums across England, Scotland and Wales.

This network now delivers thousands of brand impacts to an audience of more than 500,000 sports fans every weekend.

Eleven Sports Media have also worked with the Middlesbrough FC on developing and delivering an all-encompassing sponsorship and partnership programme, which in the words of Boro Chief Operating Officer, Mark Ellis, has ‘totally transformed the club’s commercial offering’.

This Middlesbrough FC Business Club partnership also received recognition at the Football Business Awards after being shortlisted in the Sponsorship Deal / Partnership of the Year category.

Eleven currently work with eight sports clubs across the UK on their Business Club partner programmes including Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Watford, and also with European Rugby champions Saracens.

Elsewhere at the Football Business Awards, which were hosted by Colin Murray at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, Cardiff City FC won an award for the ‘Best Match Day Experience’.

Eleven’s StatZone channel plays a prominent role in offering a dynamic and unique experience to fans at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Eleven Sports Media Managing Director, Matt Cairns said: “We’re delighted to win the Best/Most innovative use of Technology by a Club at the Football Business Awards.

“It was a great evening, topped off by industry recognition for our work with Middlesbrough FC and ADI.

“When trying to launch and achieve the unprecedented, firstly you need partners who share the same belief, enthusiasm and will as yourselves, and we have had that and more with this project.

“A huge thank-you goes to the many individuals who have contributed across the three organisations over the past two years, it’s been an absolute pleasure.

“I know we will continue to innovate, challenge the norm and endeavor to add value to our customers and the wider industry.”
