Award winners to be named during exciting new three-day football celebration in China.

The Football Achievers Awards has been launched in Monte Carlo amongst a star-studded line up of football’s past and present stars. A launch event to the three-day football celebration is to be held in the Huaxi District of Guiyang City in Guizhou Province in July.

Over 200 VIP guests attended a sparkling Nominations Ceremony in the Salle des Etoiles venue of Sporting Monte Carlo as organisers unveiled the list of nominees for award categories of; Influencer, Newcomer, Football Journalist and the Lifetime Achievement Award. The overall winners will be decided by a judge’s panel, while fans will be able to vote for their winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award online, from later this month.

The schedule for the three-day event in the Huaxi District between 11-14 July is new to football’s traditional event format, with a three-day football celebration planned by organisers. It includes a number of local and international activities such as, the ‘Art Night of the Football Achievers Awards’, ‘Academy Master Course’, and a ‘Fan Day of Football Achievers Awards’, as well as the main awards ceremony.

Lijian Zhang, Partner at Profit Century Ltd, said: “We want to appeal to the international football family, with what we believe is a unique new concept, where we can celebrate football over a number of days. To do this, we are aiming to draw from football’s rich legacy and recognise the new generation of players coming through, while also paying tribute to the greats of the game.

“We also believe it’s vital that we are able to bridge the gap between the players and the people working tirelessly behind the scenes, who are making their impact on the football industry.”

Cesc Fabregas, who attended the event in Monaco and was among the nominees for the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ said, “It was a spectacular first event in Monaco and I think it is great that the organisers are planning more high-profile events like this. For them to highlight the achievements of the world’s leading players is great but it’s so important that they also want to inspire the future generations of players worldwide.”

As well as Fabregas, Monaco FC players Radamel Falcao and Kamil Glik joined a number of former legendary footballers at the show’s launch event. Ex-Germany goalkeeper Oliver Khan was present, as well as Liverpool FC legend Robbie Fowler and former Liverpool FC and Real Madrid star Steve McManaman, who was among a list of other well-known names nominated in the Football Journalist: Special Recognition category.
