Give A Shirt About Beating Bowel Cancer And Support The Bobby Moore Fund This Football Shirt Friday

The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK is encouraging men, women and children across the UK to dig out their football shirts on Friday 26 April and donate £5 to help fund life-saving bowel cancer research.

Football Shirt Friday, sponsored by William Hill, takes place during Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

Now in its seventh year, it asks people to proudly wear their team colours for the day and donate £5 to the Bobby Moore Fund.

David Seaman, Jeff Stelling, Joe Thompson, Jordan Nobbs, BBC podcast presenter and writer Deborah James (Bowel Babe) and football social media influencers and super-fans Troopz and Expressions are among the famous faces supporting Football Shirt Friday and honouring Bobby’s memory.

Bobby Moore, the World-Cup winning England captain died of bowel cancer in 1993. Shortly after, his widow Stephanie Moore MBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK to fund world- class research and awareness projects to tackle bowel cancer. Since it began, the fund has raised over £26m for bowel cancer research.

Stephanie Moore MBE said: “We want everyone to get involved in Football Shirt Friday. It doesn’t matter what team you support or how big a fan you are, what’s important is joining together to beat bowel cancer. We’ve come a long way since Bobby’s death in 1993 – mortality rates have fallen by 30%. But bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK so we still have work to do. By taking part in Football Shirt Friday and donating £5 to the Bobby Moore Fund, you can contribute to life-saving research into bowel cancer and ultimately help beat the disease that took Bobby too soon.”

David Seaman said: “There’s one thing football fans can agree on: Bobby Moore is a legend. I want people to continue to honour his memory by taking part in Football Shirt Friday and raising money to beat bowel cancer. Whatever you are doing on Friday 26 April, wear your football shirt, donate £5 to the Bobby Moore Fund and help fund life-saving research. Do Bobby proud.”

If you give a shirt about beating bowel cancer, wear your shirt with pride on Friday 26 April and donate £5 to the Bobby Moore Fund.
