Claudius Schäfer Appointed As Representative To The UEFA Executive Committee
European Leagues President, Claudius Schäfer, was formally appointed as the European Leagues representative to the UEFA Executive Committee at the 49th UEFA Congress in Belgrade, Serbia, today (3rd April).
Claudius Schäfer, CEO of the Swiss Football League and long-term member of the Association’s Board of Directors was elected President of the European Leagues at the recent General Assembly in Frankfurt on 6 March, marking the beginning of the new four-year cycle (2025-2029).
His appointment to the Executive Committee further strengthens the collaboration between UEFA and the European Leagues, as well as between UEFA’s National Associations and professional domestic leagues at national level.
At the end of the Congress, European Leagues President Claudius Schäfer thanked UEFA and its National Associations, stating: “During the upcoming years the European Leagues will work closely with UEFA to enhance cooperation in the European football and EU landscapes, ensuring the protection of the pyramidal structure of the European Sport Model while improving jointly the governance of our sport.
“Together, we will have the big responsibility to preserve a sustainable balance between domestic and international club football but also between club football and national team football for the interest of all Leagues, National Associations, players, clubs and fans across Europe.”
