England Captains Kane & Houghton Join Fellow Stars Investing in STATSports

Harry Kane, Steph Houghton, Harry Maguire, Phil Foden and Calum Chambers have become investors in STATSports, the leading providers of GPS tracking systems, with clients including the England national team and the majority of Premier League clubs.

At the Euros, other teams such as Germany, Belgium, Portugal and Scotland will use the STATSports technology.

The five England stars join Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling as fellow professional footballers to have substantially invested in the UK-based brand and also become global ambassadors.

Kane, Maguire, Foden, Houghton, Chambers, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sterling are familiar users of STATSports’ products, with their respective clubs all existing clients of the company, including the England national team. The full STATSports ‘ squad will debut as ambassadors for the brand in a new TV advert this week promoting the consumer version of the system, the Apex Athlete Series.

Harry Kane said: “This technology is now an essential part of the professional game. It allows us to talk in facts in the assessment of our performance, with both club and country. I love the idea of young footballers being able to do the same as they work to make it in the game. STATSports’ technology at all levels is only going to grow and I’m looking forward to being part of that.”

Steph Houghton said: “It was a no-brainer to come on board with the STATSports team. Their technology has allowed me to keep improving as a player and is one of the main reasons that I have been able to play as long as I have. Wearable tech is a part of life now and I know that this brand can offer a lot to those who actively want to improve their game.”

Harry Maguire said: “Having been familiar with STATSports for a number of years, I’m delighted to be part of the top tech team. This is a product that is now essential in the game at all levels. I became really familiar with the consumer version, the Apex Athlete Series, during the first lockdown, so I know that professionals, and aspiring professionals, will benefit from keeping track of their stats with this device.”

STATSports co-founder and COO, Sean O’Connor, said: “We’re really excited to welcome such an outstanding group of elite players into the STATSports family. We believe what we are doing is at the cutting edge and to have the interest we have from the top of the game proves that. Their knowledge of the game and levels of performance will help us to develop our systems and continue to push the limits on technology helping players and teams exceed expectations.”
