FC Barcelona has had its BBB credit rating confirmed by international credit rating agency Morningstar DBRS, in a move the club says reaffirms confidence in its business model and financial strategy.

The agency highlighted FC Barcelona’s position as one of the world’s most recognisable sports brands, alongside its income-generating capability, commercial strength and sustained sporting competitiveness.

Morningstar DBRS noted that the club is entering the final stage of the largest investment programme in its history, with work on the Spotify Camp Nou moving towards completion as part of the wider Espai Barça development.

The agency has revised the outlook from positive to stable, reflecting the project delivery timetable and the financing requirements associated with the final phase of the redevelopment. However, it continues to forecast a gradual improvement in FC Barcelona’s financial profile from 2028, once the Spotify Camp Nou is fully operational.

According to Morningstar DBRS, the upgraded stadium is expected to deliver a significant uplift in the club’s revenue-generating capacity, supporting FC Barcelona’s efforts to strengthen its balance sheet and reduce reliance on financial levers over the coming years.

Work Continues On Barcelona’s New-Look Spotify Camp Nou

FC Barcelona’s historic home is being transformed into a modern, covered stadium designed to deliver an upgraded matchday experience for almost 105,000 supporters.

Ongoing redevelopment work at Spotify Camp Nou is reshaping one of world football’s most iconic venues, with the stadium set to become a fully covered, state-of-the-art home for FC Barcelona.

At the heart of the wider Espai Barça project, the remodelled stadium will increase comfort, accessibility and commercial capability while preserving the open, Mediterranean character long associated with the club’s home in Les Corts.

The design, led by Japanese studio Nikken Sekkei, retains the spacious terraces and openness of the existing stadium while introducing a new roof structure to protect supporters across the bowl.

Once complete, Spotify Camp Nou is expected to accommodate nearly 105,000 fans, alongside upgraded hospitality areas, a double VIP ring between the second and third tiers, improved technology and enhanced fan services.

Sustainability is also central to the redevelopment, with the project aiming to create a more efficient and integrated venue that connects the stadium with the surrounding neighbourhood and the city.

For FC Barcelona, the work represents more than a stadium upgrade. The new-look Spotify Camp Nou is being positioned as a year-round destination and a flagship element of the club’s long-term commercial and sporting future.
