As part of an on-going effort to share knowledge with sports law professionals around the world, FIFA is launching a new Diploma in Football Law in collaboration with the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES).

The Diploma is designed for sports executives, either working in the legal department of a FIFA Member Association, holding a legal position in a players’ union, club or league, or working as a sports lawyer in the football field.

The first edition will run from February 2020 to March 2021 and will consist of five modules on key facets of football law, each lasting five days and held in five different locations around the world.

It will begin at CONCACAF’s headquarters in early 2020, followed by a unique journey taking in the headquarters of the AFC, CONMEBOL and CAF and ending at the Home of FIFA in Zurich in 2021. These locations have been specifically selected in order to reflect and cover the international dimension of this unique football law programme around the world.

The development of regulations and legal decisions in football has become extraordinarily relevant to the work of professionals at national associations, leagues, clubs and players’ unions. FIFA sees it as its responsibility to promote education and share knowledge and has set itself the objective of ensuring that football’s legal stakeholders can get to know the most relevant aspects of the field first-hand.

The FIFA Diploma in Football Law will feature insight from a host of renowned experts, leaders, arbitrators and sports lawyers. The programme, has been specially created by FIFA in collaboration with the CIES.

It offers a practical, personalised learning approach, backed-up by theory, research and practical sessions. Participants will come away with well-rounded knowledge of football law, equipping them to meet the varied needs of today’s professional football structure, whether within an organisation or in private practice.

This course is offered solely in English.

The admission process will open on 1 May 2019.
