The Football League will launch a weekly kids’ football show from February.

In association with Nickelodeon UK & Ireland, The Football League have announced the launch of Nick Kicks, a new weekly Football League children’s programme on the Nicktoons channel from 6th February 2016.

100 episodes are set to air on Saturday mornings through to the end of the 2017/18 season.

Produced in association with The Football League Trust, each week Nick Kicks will take viewers behind the scenes of The Football League with visits to clubs, interviews with players and even a regular feature that will see popular character SpongeBob SquarePants take on club mascots in weekly challenges.

The production of Nick Kicks follows the broadcast deal struck between The Football League and Viacom International Media Network’s Channel 5.

Highlights used in the programme will be provided by ITN Productions, in addition to their 3 year deal to film, edit and deliver footage of all matches in The Football League announced last year.

ITN Productions will provide specially created clips and highlights specifically for Nick Kicks (more funny bits, falls etc as well as the key goals) so as not to use footage that has already been delivered for Football League Tonight on Channel 5.

Commenting, Shaun Harvey, Chief Executive of The Football League said: “Offering a fun insight into life at clubs up and down the country, Nick Kicks will help us to engage and inspire a new generation of Football League fans.

“We look forward to working with Nickelodeon on Nick Kicks in what is another exciting first for The Football League.”

Alison Bakunowich, VP, Head of Editorial, Nickelodeon UK & Ireland added: “We know that UK kids love football whether it’s played in stadiums or in the back garden so it is brilliant to be producing a series that will bring families a Nickelodeon take on the nation’s top sport.

“Nick Kicks is going to be funny and will give fans a unique look at their favourite clubs and players.”

Nick Kicks will be presented by YouTube personality Roman Kemp, and sports presenter Rachel Stringer.
