Ugur Erdener, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee, President of World Archery and President of the Turkish Olympic Committee, will deliver a keynote speech for this year’s action-packed Host City 2018, taking place in Glasgow on 20-21 November.

 

The VIP opening address will be given by Paul Bush OBE, Director of Events, VisitScotland.

 

The theme for the fifth Host City conference and exhibition is “The Future of Major Events”. Hundreds of attendees from event owners, organisers and hosts will hear about and debate the pressing issues that are shaping the future of the sector.

 

Non-Olympic sports and disruptive newcomers well represented on the programme, with a case study from Chloe Targett-Adams, Global Director of Promoters and Business Relations, Formula 1 and a case study from Andy Edwards, President, Nitro Circus on “Integrated Content Offerings: Connecting audiences, host cities and content through Major Events”.

 

The story of Paris’ journey from bidding for legacy will be told by Jean-Francois Martins, Deputy Mayor in charge of Tourism, Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, City of Paris and Diogo Taddei, Head of Sports and Events and Egis.

 

Michal Buchel, CEO, FIAS – International SAMBO Federation will present on “Building recognition and participation”, while a pilot will present alongside Erich Wolf, Managing Director of Red Bull Air Race.

 

Peter van der Veer, CEO, Rotterdam Ahoy and President, European Arenas Association will give a keynote introduction to the session on “Futureproof venues”.

 

These addresses, presentations, stories and case studies are interspersed with a series of high level panel discussions, debates and dialogues.
