Isthmian League Launch Partnership With Prostate Cancer UK
The Isthmian League has announced Prostate Cancer UK as their official charity partner for the 2025/26 season.
The league and its 88 member clubs will team up with the leading men’s health charity against a disease that affects one in eight men in the UK.
Kicking off with the Charity Shield between last season’s Premier Division champions Horsham and Billericay Town on 2nd August, the powerful partnership will cover the entire Pitching In Isthmian League campaign.
The partnership comes as prostate cancer has become the most common cancer in England, with the number of diagnoses surpassing those of breast cancer for two years in a row.
Clubs will share messages about the risk of prostate cancer with their fanbase as well, with supporters encouraged to represent their club as part of Prostate United in October.
Managers will be able to sport the charity’s ‘Man of Men’ pin badges on the sidelines with fans also able to check their risk of getting the disease via the charity’s 30-second online risk checker – prostatecanceruk.org/isthmian-risk.
Prostate cancer often doesn’t cause symptoms in its earlier stages when it’s easier to treat, so knowing your risk could be life-saving.
The partnership helps maintain Prostate Cancer UK’s strong standing in football where they have been a consistent presence for more than a decade.
As well as a muti-year partnership with the EFL, they have enjoyed many productive club partnerships and are also long-term partners with the League Manager’s Association.
Prostate Cancer UK has also been a partner of Non-League Day for the past 11 seasons, working with the National League and its previous sponsors Vanarama, as well as hundreds of clubs throughout the pyramid.
They have reached hundreds of thousands of men as well as raising more than £280,000, attracting national media attention in the process.
Isthmian League Chairman, Nick Robinson, knows more than most about the impact of prostate cancer having himself been diagnosed with the disease.
And he said: “We are delighted once again to be supporting Prostate Cancer UK as our nominated charity for the new season.
“We hope that by raising awareness as well as money we will contribute to saving lives. I suspect that there not one club in the Isthmian League where there is someone who has been affected by this dreadful cancer. We know that if it is diagnosed early, it is treatable so it’s not something to be ignored.
“We look forward to teaming up with Prostate Cancer UK to get some life-changing results.”
One in eight men will get prostate cancer. The earlier it’s found, the easier it is to treat – but there’s currently no screening programme. Men are at higher risk if they are over 50, Black or have a father or brother who has had prostate cancer. Anyone with concerns should visit the charity’s online risk checker.
Prostate Cancer UK Chief Executive Laura Kerby said: “We are delighted to team up with the Isthmian League, their clubs and supporters to help fund lifesaving research and raise vital awareness about prostate cancer, the most common cancer in men.
“Football is a real force for good and is so influential in helping us raise the profile of prostate cancer. Across the football industry, at every level from the terraces to the touchlines, in board rooms and living rooms across the UK, Prostate Cancer UK and the Isthmian League community are uniting against the deadliest opponent of all.”
