Kevin Leads Hunt For Forest Green Rovers Stadium Name

The newest stadium name in the English Football League has been put to the football community…and it might not quite be what most were expecting.

Forest Green Rovers’ – recognised by FIFA and the United Nations as the world’s greenest football club – recently unveiled drinks brand innocent as the new club sponsor, which included the rights to rename the stadium.

So far this season, the ground has been officially known as the ‘innocent [insert name here] stadium’.

But a Twitter poll was launched this week on innocent’s and Forest Green’s Twitter pages, to see which names were most popular. And perhaps underestimating the sense of humour of the British public, the name ‘Kevin’ is currently in the lead, with the ‘innocent fruit bowl’, the ‘innocent sustadium’ and the ‘innocent new lawn’ all currently trailing.

Kevin has taken an incredible 61% of the vote so far and also proving popular with the Forest Green fans. It remains to be seen if the ground will end up being christened ‘Kevin’, when the Forest Green fans cast their official final vote over the coming days.

innocent’s UK Marketing Director, Anna Bateson, said: “We gave the job of naming the Forest Green Rovers stadium to our marketing team as we thought they were pretty good at coming up with names. But frankly their suggestions weren’t great so they then had the bright idea of putting it to people on Twitter. That’s not quite gone the way we expected.

“It is also worth adding that we have no idea who Kevin is.”

The vote launched on Forest Green Rovers’ and innocent’s twitter page on Thursday.  Fans can still vote by going to the @FGRFC_Official and @innocent Twitter accounts.
