The finals day is the concluding stage of LaLiga and Bloomsbury’s schools’ competition, and this year it brought together over 120 young girls across 15 teams, from 11 different schools in London.

Alongside the competitive plate and cup tournaments, there were additional on-pitch sessions led by Fundación LaLiga throughout the day, focused on the importance of empowering girls through sport and the positive values of Spanish football.

Sixteen Spanish clubs across three tiers of Spanish professional football are participating in the LaLiga x Bloomsbury football foundation programme this season, underscoring LaLiga’s continued commitment to boosting accessibility to football worldwide.

Fourteen of these teams were represented on finals day as players proudly wore the colours of: Athletic Club, RCD Espanyol, Atlético De Madrid, RCD Mallorca, Valencia CF, CA Osasuna, Deportivo Alavés, Villarreal CF, RC Celta, Real Oviedo and Girona FC, as well as RC Deportivo, CD Leganés and Granada CF.

Since officially launching in mid-2022, LaLiga and Bloomsbury have welcomed more than 400 participating players who not only learn new footballing skills, but about Spanish football, language and culture.

The collaboration sees LaLiga and its clubs, together with Fundación LaLiga, continue to support the pioneering work of Bloomsbury football, who currently engage with over 6,000 young people in London each week.

Underlining the partnership’s growth year-on-year, LaLiga’s strategic partner CVC, through the CVC foundation – a network-wide philanthropy programme – has also continued their support for the girls school programme this year.

Charlie Hyman, CEO of Bloomsbury said: “After another exciting football season draws to a close, more girls across London are looking for opportunities to play football, develop their confidence and feel part of the game.

“That’s exactly why our finals day with LaLiga is so important. together we created a tournament that has brought together 120 girls to compete, learn, and improve their football skills.

“Our partnership with LaLiga continues to grow from strength to strength, and seeing so many girls enjoying the tournament together reflects everything we set out to achieve when we started this journey together.”

Keegan Pierce, Director of International Relations at LaLiga, added: “We are incredibly proud of what we have built with Bloomsbury football foundation over the past few years, and our support from clubs across Spain allows us to create more opportunities for young girls in London to play football, build confidence and connect through the game.

“Together with Bloomsbury Football Foundation, we have a shared commitment to inspire the next generation of young girls through football. it was fantastic to see the level of competition and talent on display at this year’s finals day, while also giving players the opportunity to build stronger connections with Spanish football.”
