Leah Barrett Appointed Chief Commercial Officer At Global Procurement Group
Global Procurement Group has appointed Leah Barrett as Chief Commercial Officer, placing her in direct oversight of the Group’s commercial operations across Northern Gas and Power, ClearVUE and the wider portfolio.
The appointment positions Leah as the second most senior leader in the business, with responsibility for revenue operations, commercial performance, customer strategy and growth execution across the Group.
She joined Northern Gas and Power (NGP) in August 2016, entering the business at ground level, managing agents directly and developing an understanding of the commercial operation from the inside out.
Over the following years, she progressed through increasingly senior leadership positions across both Northern Gas and Power and ClearVUE, ultimately operating at Director level while retaining close oversight of frontline performance and sales execution.
She has worked across prospecting, lead generation, supplier negotiation, account delivery, contract governance and operational performance. She has built teams, established connections, managed departments and helped shape many of the commercial processes still embedded in the organisation today.
Customers increasingly expect procurement partners to provide more than contract placement alone. They expect commercial discipline, transparency, governance and long-term strategic support through volatile markets. Suppliers expect operational consistency, credible forecasting and well-managed customer portfolios.
Leah has operated at the centre of those relationships for years, helping shape the standards and commercial approach that underpin how the Group works with both customers and supplier partners today Her influence across the business and the wider sector has been established for several years.
Her leadership has also been recognised externally and was named CEO Today’s Energy Services Female Leader of the Year in both 2021 and 2022, recognition tied closely to her work around operational standards, compliance and customer governance across the Group’s international operations.
Over recent months, Barrett has worked directly alongside Group CEO Fokhrul Islam on a number of operational and structural developments across the organisation, supporting the Group’s continued growth and evolution internationally.
Announcing the appointment, Islam described the promotion as representative of a wider change taking place across the Group’s leadership structure and operating culture.
“Leah represents exactly what we want our leadership to look like,” he said. “Someone who has grown with the business, raised the standard at every stage, and built strong teams around her. This appointment was a natural step.”
Speaking following the announcement, Leah said her focus would remain firmly on continuing the standards, commercial discipline and customer outcomes that have underpinned the Group’s growth to date.
She said: “This business has grown enormously over the years, and I’ve had the privilege of growing with it. I’ve seen what it takes to build strong teams, look after customers, and keep delivering consistently as the business grows.
“Across Northern Gas and Power, ClearVUE and the wider Group, we’ve got fantastic people, strong customer relationships, and a business that’s been built the right way over many years.
“As CCO, my focus is making sure we keep building on that, keep supporting our teams, staying close to our customers, and continuing to deliver the standards we’re known for as we grow internationally.”
For customers and partners, the appointment reinforces the Group’s continued focus on governed procurement, operational accountability and long-term customer relationships.
As the business continues to expand internationally and evolve its technology platforms through ClearVUE, Leah will play a central role in ensuring the Group continues to deliver the standards, commercial discipline and customer outcomes it has become known for.
The appointment comes during a period of continued international growth for Global Procurement Group, which now operates across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and India, supporting customers across energy procurement, flexible purchasing, carbon reduction and AI-enabled energy technology platforms.
