The Foundation is the official charity of Manchester United and was formed in 2007 as a lasting tribute to the Busby Babes, to nurture the talents of young people in areas of high social deprivation across Greater Manchester and further afield.

By delivering community outreach and education programmes, the Foundation helps young people to make more positive choices in their lives, and that impact has been more evident than ever over the last year.

Collette Roche – Chair, Manchester United Foundation / Chief Operating Officer, Manchester United – writes in the report: “The reason I value our Season Review is because it gives everyone interested and involved in Manchester United Foundation the opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of the last 12 months.

“Quite simply, it’s been a record-breaking year… One that has seen a 29% increment in delivery, resulting in over 30,000 sessions being delivered to children and young people across Greater Manchester and beyond – this has resulted in participant aggregate attendances reaching just short of half a million.

“We now look forward and make plans for the season ahead. Once again, and with your support, I’m confident we’ll be breaking more records.”

Over the course of the 2022/23 season, the Foundation has:

• Engaged with 25,587 unique participants
• Delivered 116 projects with more than 40,000 delivery hours
• Helped participants to achieve 1,574 qualifications

Foundation highlights in the last 12 months have included the return of Dream Day experiences for fans with life-limiting illnesses to meet men’s team players at Carrington, Legends involvement across Foundation activities – notably a match against Liverpool – and player activity with men’s and women’s stars in the local community.

The latest report also shines a light on participants like Fayyaz, Sid and Ella, who have grown so much as a result of the impact of our programmes in the last year.
