Middlesbrough FC has selected SeatGeek Enterprise to deliver its market leading ticketing platform (SRO) ahead of the 2019/2020 EFL Championship season.

SeatGeek today announced a multi-year partnership with Middlesbrough Football Club to become the club’s official primary ticketing partner.

The Boro who play their home games at The Riverside stadium selected SeatGeek after a detailed review of the UK sports ticketing market and will use its powerful ticketing platform (SRO) to provide a much improved fan experience, while delivering a range of automated processes across the club’s back office operations.

Middlesbrough decided to engage with potential new ticketing suppliers during late 2018, following calls from supporters for the club to provide increased clarity and flexibility in the ticketing purchase process. The club also formalised plans to introduce an innovative new priority scheme for ticket sales and selected SeatGeek’s SRO ticketing platform as the perfect solution to deliver the club’s vision to supporters and empower club staff with a wide range of new functionality.

Commenting on the partnership, Middlesbrough’s Head of Ticketing Derek Matthews said; “Ticketing is obviously a major touch-point with our supporters, and we have been working hard to deliver a range of improvements to enable a much slicker mobile first on-line platform, with increased levels of customer service a key priority for us. As a management team we were unanimous in our selection of SeatGeek who demonstrated an excellent range of functionality and just as importantly a proven track record of delivering leading edge ticketing solutions to a host of major Sports Clubs in the UK and overseas. We have been hugely impressed with the implementation process and level of engagement we have received from SeatGeek staff in the rollout phase and look forward to working closely with SeatGeek going forward”.

SeatGeek has seen strong growth in the UK sports market over recent years, and will ticket 35% of Premier League clubs during season 2019/2020 as well as 30% of the EFL Championship clubs. Middlesbrough FC will join a client list including Manchester City, Newcastle United, Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Derby County, West Bromwich Albion, Bristol City, Reading, Aberdeen and Leicester Tigers. SeatGeek, headquartered in New York, also has a North East based UK Sport office which heads up all UK based activity within the growing client base. SeatGeek also tickets a league wide solution in the Netherlands including a 30 stadium deal with includes ticketing the Dutch FC (KNVB). A growing number of major teams in the U.S., including the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans, and a range of Major League Soccer clubs including Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers and Sporting Kansas City Football Club also operate their ticketing via SeatGeek’s SRO platform.

SeatGeek’s Managing Director for Sport (EMEA) Peter Joyce said “Middlesbrough approached us with a clear blueprint of functionalities that they wanted a new ticketing platform to provide in order to deliver a dramatically improved customer experience and customer service across the whole ticketing operation. Following our successful launch phase in July we look forward to continuing our work with the club’s management team to deliver a first-class mobile first ticketing experience for fans across all aspects of the club’s ticketing operations during the 2019-20 season and beyond.”
