Modulek Announces Build Partnership With Exeter City Football Club
Modulek Ltd has announced it has been appointed the main contractor for the new £3m training facilities at Exeter City Football Club.
The offsite design and construction company Modulek has been appointed the main contractor for the brand-new training facilities at the club’s Cliff Hill Training Ground.
After securing promotion to the Sky Bet League One Exeter City FC are poised to embark on a substantial redevelopment of their facilities which has been a long time coming.
Modulek have been involved in the project since 2014 when they were asked to work with the club on the feasibility study and provide design concepts to provide the ground with a first-class training facility.
Brian Pester, Commercial Director at Modulek, commented at last week’s Turf Cutting Ceremony: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Exeter City Football Club, having helped with the design and feasibility way back at the initial concept stage, we are really happy that we could step in and have pulled out all the stops to get this project off the ground.
“We were able to quickly re-engineer the project to fit within the club’s committed budget and we will be mobilising on site during the off season to ensure that all the essential groundworks are complete and ready for the construction phase.”
The new facilities will consist of a new two-storey facility, which will include a new and larger fitness suite, separate canteen facilities (no longer shared with gym), larger changing and physiotherapy facilities, improved office accommodation and multi-use theatre/match preparation/classroom space.
Groundwork will commence immediately to ensure minimal disruption to the site and the players in the off season.
The building will be constructed offsite and delivered to the ground in the autumn and will be ready for occupation in December.
The new facilities are to replace a temporary building which has been on site since the 1974 and is no longer fit for purpose.
Julian Tagg, President and Director of External Affairs and Football at Exeter City FC, said: “Built as a temporary building almost 50 years ago, the existing pavilion has done us proud, but it really is time to improve the facilities, which will make a huge difference to our players, management and the many other staff who are based here.
“The improvement of our training facilities, as all our facilities, is ongoing and massive strides have been made under Trust ownership; a fantastic reflection on our ownership model.”
Modulek who also designed and constructed training pavilions at AFC Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers, when they both secured promotion to the Premier League, are fast becoming the go to design and construction experts within the football market.
Currently in discussion with a number of top tier clubs, their design and fast hybrid construction method is providing valuable solutions across men’s and women’s leagues for clubs looking to enhance their training facilities and provide state of the art buildings for players.
