Newcastle Lose Confidence After Arsenal Defeat

The match between Newcastle and Arsenal didn’t end up with Newcastle being winners. The match finished with 3-0 for Arsenal, despite Newcastle opening up more to face their opponents. Gary Neville doesn’t think that Steve Bruce is going to consider the defence-first football style for Newcastle United next time.

However, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Newcastle lost some of its confidence after this defeat. There have been seven games with no league win for Newcastle, so it only makes sense confidence goes away after something like this.

Gary Neville on Steve Bruce

Despite the loss for Newcastle, Gary Neville thinks that the new set-up under Steve Bruce is going to be much better. He doesn’t think that Bruce will go back to the defence-first football that applied until after the recent loss.

“I think he’ll stick with the same plan realising that opponents in other games could be weaker than the one he’s played tonight,” Neville said.

“He’s not going to panic, he’s got longevity in the game, experience, he knew full well when he took this job that there was gonna come a period when he came under fire. At the start of last season, they thought they were gonna go down, that’s all I heard from Newcastle fans at the start of last season.”

Newcastle – Arsenal Match Report

In the 50th minute of the game, Aubameyang fired past the Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow. As such, he finished off a counterattack. He ran straight at the defence of the Gunners and was successful.

Then, after 10 minutes, Bukayo Saka ran past the defence of Newcastle as well. He managed to score a goal too, making the match 2-0 for Arsenal. It all happened after there was some good work from Emile Smith Rowe. The young player was able to go around the defence built by Newcastle before being able to deliver a pinpoint pass.

Then, after Cedric Soares got to the byline and was able to get the ball back into his own path, Aubameyang was able to secure the victory. An examination was done by VAR to see if the ball had crossed the line before Cedric’s pass. The goal was allowed to stand. In the end, Arsenal was able to maintain a clean sheet in five consecutive games during all the competitions.

Arteta spoke about the results. “I’m really happy overall. Really positive performance, collective and individually we looked really solid and convincing from the first whistle,” he said. “It took us a little bit longer than I expected to score the first goal, but I like the chemistry, cohesion, and rhythm the team played with.”

After the bottom club Sheffield United defeat, Steve Bruce made eight changes to Newcastle. He dealt with huge disappointment when his team was unable to make improvements in the first half.

Now, Bruce is planning to do his best for the future. All we can do is wait and see how Newcastle will perform in the future. Look for news and predictions on sites like https://askbettors.com/ to see if you could bet in Newcastle’s favour.
