Owners’ Investment Underlines Targets for Tottenham Hotspur

The end of the 2021/22 football season saw another rollercoaster campaign for Tottenham Hotspur. Two managers were employed during the period and, after it appeared that the club might finish outside of the European places, they finally qualified for the Champions League.

Current boss Antonio Conte guided Spurs back into the biggest domestic club competition in Europe. Like many before him, he had hinted that the club would need to back him in the transfer market. Unlike his predecessors, it appears that Conte will get his wish.

Significant Investment

Shortly after the season came to a close, it was announced that ENIC, the investment group that controls Tottenham Hotspur, would be investing £150 million into the club ahead of the next campaign.

Like all football clubs, Spurs’ revenue suffered during the pandemic but a loan that was taken has been repaid and that sure footing has allowed ENIC to respond. It’s a positive piece of news for Tottenham and their supporters. A long wait for a trophy is about to extend into its fifteenth year but could the drought be about to end?

Tottenham Targets for 2022

A trophy of any kind will be the goal for Antonio Conte and his team in 2022/23. It will be tough to break the stranglehold that Liverpool and Manchester City have over the Premier League and the Champions League is stronger than ever.

The FA Cup may be the best option for Spurs next season and the sports betting markets tend to agree. Early figures from the best football betting sites linked to SBO.net show Manchester City as the favourites with Liverpool close behind.

Tottenham are just behind Chelsea who are in third place. In a competition which is based on a straight knockout format with no group stage, the domestic cups offer the best opportunity to end that trophy drought.

With several months to go before the third round of the FA Cup and the introduction of the top flight teams, those odds are subject to fluctuation. Visitors to the SBO website can monitor the updates while taking on board news and blog posts from the world of sport.

Reviews of betting sites are included and it’s also possible to stake in those markets. Each of those sportsbooks will accept new account holders with a swift and secure sign up form in place.

Many of the bookmakers have a generous welcome package in position and there may also be ongoing promotions moving forward. A range of deposit and withdrawal options are available to get the account moving and customer services can talk customers through that registration form.

As a regular player, additional advantages can include other sporting markets, in-play betting and the option to bid via a mobile device. It’s a logical site to follow in terms of football betting but how will that investment change Tottenham Hotspur’s fortunes moving forward?

Transfer Speculation

The clear message given by this investment relates to transfer business in the summer window. Antonio Conte wishes to strengthen the squad and ENIC have given him the means to do so. The manager has wasted no time and Spurs have already brought in winger Ivan Perisic from Conte’s former club Inter Milan.

There will, of course, need to be a balance in the books. Transfer fees from player sales are important and Tottenham may be looking to offload Giovani Lo Celso and their record signing Tanguy Ndombele among others.

It’s generally perceived that Spurs have been very careful when it comes to spending money in the transfer markets. Chairman Daniel Levy has a reputation for being a tough negotiator both in terms of acquisitions and departures.

However, since the 2017/18 campaign, Tottenham have been in the red in terms of transfer spending. Only one season saw a positive return in the transfer market with sales in 2018/19 helping to provide a profit of £4.82 million.

This is going to be a fascinating period for supporters of the club. New commercial partnerships may now follow as the owners look for additional revenue. The hope of competing with the biggest teams in Europe is closer to becoming a reality and the first aim for Tottenham Hotspur is to end that long trophy drought.
