Rotherham United are set to welcome the one millionth customer through the AESSEAL New York Stadium turnstiles at this weekend’s televised Yorkshire derby with Leeds United.
The 1,000,000th supporter is anticipated to make their way through the turnstiles at Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship showdown with Leeds at the weekend, with the milestone including every competitive game played by the Millers at their new home which officially opened in 2012.
Not included in that tally are the club’s hosting of England in both women’s and youth internationals or any friendlies played by the club at their home in Rotherham.
All league and cup games, as well as the Millers’ Play-off involvement against Preston North End are part of the portfolio of games which began with the first supporter counted through the doors at the hosting of Burton Albion in League Two on Saturday 18th August 2012.
The lucky supporter will be informed via an announcement on the club’s official website next week and will be treated to a meal one of the lounges at AESSEAL New York Stadium with one guest for the game against Queens Park Rangers.
They will also be presented with a special commemorative framed shirt to mark the milestone,
Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas expressed his excitement at welcoming the club’s 1,000,000th customer to the Millers’ home on Saturday, taking time to thank the club’s fans for their backing since 2012.
“I would like to thank every single supporter that has come through the turnstiles and shown their support to the club since the stadium opened in 2012,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.
“It is fantastic to be celebrating a landmark like this after just four years at the stadium and is a testament to the level of support that the club has received in recent years.
“It is befitting that we will welcome the 1,000,000th fan to the stadium at a game with the magnitude of a Yorkshire derby.”
