Stockport County To Introduce Safe Standing At Edgeley Park For 2025/26 Season
Stockport County has confirmed the introduction of safe standing areas at Edgeley Park, set to debut in time for the 2025/26 football season. The club says the initiative, developed in close collaboration with safety authorities, marks a return to a more traditional and dynamic matchday experience.
Under the new plans, rail seating will be installed in two sections of the stadium: the back five rows of the Upper Tier in the Cheadle End and the back two rows of the Vitality Railway End. In total, 849 supporters will be accommodated in these designated safe standing zones—subject to final approval by the Safety Advisory Group.
The safe standing areas will use rail seating systems, which feature individual barriers for safety, allowing fans to stand throughout the match while reducing the risk of crowd surges.
Supporters with season tickets in affected rows will be contacted directly to discuss their seating preferences, with options to relocate if they do not wish to stand. Further information on ticketing, access, and regulations for these sections will be provided closer to the new season.
The club describes the move as a significant step forward in enhancing the fan experience at Edgeley Park.
