Strong Euro 2024 Can See Valuations Rocket For England Stars
A strong major international tournament can do wonders for a player’s valuation and this summer’s European Championship in Germany will be no different.
England players in the past have seen their valuations rise significantly after a major tournament and Premier League clubs and teams across the continent will be keeping a close eye on proceedings at Euro 2024.
Watkins Can See Valuation Skyrocket
After what was an outstanding Premier League campaign, Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins earned a deserved call-up to the England squad and a ticket to Germany. England, who are 10/3 in the odds to win Euro 2024, finished runners-up at the last European Championship with a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to Italy in the final. Perhaps Watkins can be the final piece of the puzzle this time around and the Villa star is 60/1 in the Euros Golden Boot winner odds to finish top goalscorer at the tournament this summer. With 19 goals in the Premier League last season, Watkins heads into Euro 2024 in good form and will be hoping to make an impact under manager Gareth Southgate in Germany.
Watkins’ efforts at Villa Park have certainly not gone unnoticed, with big hitters Arsenal, Manchester United and their old rivals Liverpool all being linked with a move for the 28-year-old. Watkins has made no indication that he wishes to leave Villa, who have an exciting journey in the Champions League to look forward to next season. Big clubs would have to pay a significant amount to lure Watkins away from Villa Park and that figure would only increase if the striker starts banging in the goals at Euro 2024.
West Ham Can Hold Out For Big Bowen Money
Jarrod Bowen is another England international who has been linked with a summer move after an impressive campaign with West Ham. Making the cut for the Three Lions 26-man squad for Euro 2024, Bowen has the chance to showcase what he can do on one of the biggest stages there is. The former Hull City forward has already risen to big occasions in the past, scoring the winning goal in West Ham’s Europa Conference League final victory over Fiorentina in the 2022/23 season.
Scoring 16 Premier League goals last term, Bowen finished the Hammers’ leading goalscorer in the competition. Again his efforts have not gone unnoticed and Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old attacker. Valued at around £50million, expect that fee to go up in Bowen can impress for England in Germany. The Three Lions find themselves in a group that includes Denmark, Serbia and Slovenia. Southgate will be expected to tinker with his side through the winnable group, especially if England can secure top spot with a game to spare. Bowen will be pushing hard for minutes and he has the quality to make headlines with his efforts on the field this summer.
Watkins and Bowen are just two players linked with summer transfers who can see their valuations balloon in Germany. The transfer market is extra volatile when there’s a summer tournament and all clubs will be keeping a close on their prized assets and potential targets.
