The FBA Signs Atlético Ottawa As Its First Partner In Canada
The Football Business Academy (The FBA) has announced a partnership agreement with Atlético Ottawa, its first Canadian club to join its international network.
This collaboration aims to kick off a long-term relation between both organisations to further develop the sport regionally while generating new learning opportunities for FBA Master Candidates.
“I’m honored to welcome Atlético Ottawa, our first Canadian club partner,” said Nicolás Martín, Partnerships Manager, The FBA.
“This marks a starting point in elevating football’s presence in the country and the CPL, while also enabling us to contribute with top-tier FBA Candidates to support the club’s continued success. Special thanks to FBA Alumnus Max Rosen for his influential role in promoting this collaboration.”
Max Rosen, Director of Business Development, Atlético Ottawa, added: “As Director of Business Development at Atlético Ottawa, we’re thrilled to partner with The Football Business Academy to introduce aspiring football professionals into the dynamic world of soccer business.
“Through opportunities in ticketing, sales, marketing, media and more, we aim to equip The FBA students with hands-on experience and industry insights.
“We’re excited to collaborate on innovative student-led projects and know that The FBA participants will bring passion and fresh perspectives to everything we do.”
The FBA and Atlético Ottawa share a commitment to excellence, innovation, and the development of the football industry. This partnership not only solidifies The FBA’s position as a leader in football business education but also strengthens the club’s global footprint in the ever-evolving landscape of professional football.
Proof of this is found not only in FBA Alumni currently working at the club but also in FBA Candidates who, in recent years, have had the opportunity to complete their mandatory internships in different areas of the club, such as ticketing and sales, among others.
2020 marked their foundation by Spanish club Atlético de Madrid and inaugural season in the Canadian Premier League (CPL).
The club’s identity and colors are based on their Spanish parent, with the Peace Tower featuring their crest.
Atlético Ottawa’s first home debut took place in August 2021, with over 12,000 spectators and a win against HFX Wanderers. The team plays at TD Place in Lansdowne Park in the Glebe neighborhood of Ottawa, which hosted nine matches during the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
In less than 5 years, the team has achieved great success, becoming not just the 2022 season champions but also club of the year 2023.
This mutually beneficial collaboration aims to facilitate cooperation on strategically significant topics, unlocking valuable opportunities for both The FBA and Atlético Ottawa.
Beyond providing FBA Master Candidates with a comprehensive learning environment through internships, this partnership also offers the opportunity to undertake Student Business Projects (SBPs) focused on strategic topics, thereby cultivating synergies that align with Atlético Ottawa’s business plans.
