Tottenham Hotspur Supporting Shelter’s #Nohomekit Campaign

Club and Shelter are calling on fans to swap their home shirts for away shirts on Boxing Day to raise awareness of homelessness

Tottenham Hotspur is showing its support for Shelter’s #NoHomeKit campaign at their upcoming Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.

Shelter campaigns to end homelessness, with more than 274,000 people, including 126,000 children, currently homeless in England right now.

The charity is working harder than ever to raise awareness for families and individuals who won’t be able to enjoy the home comforts that we take for granted this Christmas.

Using the unique platform of the ever-popular festive football period, Shelter is calling on as many fans as possible to support #NoHomeKit by swapping their home shirts for away shirts on Boxing Day.

Whether watching from the stands, or gathered around the TV in the living room, taking part in #NoHomeKit will help provide a sense of community in the fight against homelessness.

To show their support for #NoHomeKit, Tottenham players will wear away shirts during their pre-match warm up, courtesy of Getir, their Official Training Wear Partner.

The club are also asking fans to get involved ahead of the match by posting images on social media wearing their all-time favourite away kit, tagging in @SpursOfficial and using the hashtag #NoHomeKit.

Shelter will have visibility across the club’s social channels, LED signage, big screens and their N17 Live Broadcast. HSBC, the club’s Official Banking Partner, has donated their programme and LED advertising space at the game to help Shelter further promote the campaign

Fans can directly support Shelter’s frontline services by texting ‘HOME’ to 70455 to donate £5

Earlier this week, the club made deliveries of food items donated by Getir to Shelter’s London hub. The items were then distributed to families who currently use Shelter’s services.

Daniel Levy, Chairman, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “Boxing Day is a special occasion in the football calendar when we see many families come together to support their teams up and down the country.

“Yet there are thousands in the UK who will not be able to enjoy the festivities and do not have a place to call home. It is vital we show our support for #NoHomeKit to raise awareness for homelessness and are proud to support the #NoHomeKit campaign.”

Osama Bhutta, Director of Campaigns at Shelter, added: “In the space of a single 90-minute football match, 25 households will become homeless – many of them will be families with children. That’s why the work of our frontline advisers is so critical.

“Our emergency helpline is open 365 days a year, so that no-one has to face homelessness alone. By ditching their home colours this Boxing Day, fans will be helping us to find safe and secure homes for people whose lives are on the line.”

Anyone who is facing homelessness can get free and expert advice through Shelter’s emergency helpline on 0808 800 4444 and online by visiting www.shelter.org.uk/get_help.
