World Football Summit Makes Sevilla Global Football Industry Capital

After two difficult years for the entire events industry, the sixth edition of WFS Europe promises to be a landmark event for those looking to accelerate new business opportunities in the football ecosystem.

he sixth edition of WFS Europe is back, better, and stronger than ever and it is ready to place Sevilla at the epicentre of the global sports business ecosystem by gathering a community of more than 2.500 professionals on-site and over 1000 tuning in online in a hybrid-event that promises to shape the future of the football industry.

Over the course of two full days, attendees will enjoy the possibility to network and engage with every panel and guest thanks to the official World Football Summit App and accelerate opportunities that would normally take years to materialise. Former Liverpool CEO, Peter Moore, also understood it this way as shown by this quote from a conversation with the late Michael Robinson on the live stage.

“We’ll look back a few years from now and say, “I met you at World Football Summit!” Relationships are born here.”

World Football Summit Director and Co-Founder, Marian Otamendi, could not be prouder and more grateful for the support they have received from the city of Sevilla, one of the sports capitals of the world:

“After two extremely difficult years, the entire WFS team is incredibly excited to have the opportunity to cast the football industry’s net in Sevilla for the first time. Support from all governing and sports institutions of the city has been out of this world, and we are certain this will be our best even to date.

“The company, however, does not forget about the social impact that the world’s most beautiful game can drive and are not oblivious to some of the most pressing issues currently taking place in the world.

“Football has the power to change the world, and for this reason, we are proud to announce that, for the first time ever, we are committed to having at least 30% of the speakers to be women and we have joined the cause promoted by Common Goal by donating 10% of our ticketing to NGOs and projects dedicated to supporting the victims of the conflict.”

During the 48-hour time span, over 150 top-tier speakers will share their knowledge and expertise on the live stage across 40+ panels which will provide a 360º view of the present and future of football, covering the most relevant topics for the industry including the latest trends around web3, the consolidation of women’s football, sustainability, or how to connect with the sports fan of the future.

Some of the biggest names in the world of football will not miss it, including:

Cindy Parlow Cone, President at US Soccer

Nobel Peace Prize Winner Prof. Mohammad Yunus

Óscar Mayo, Executive General Director at LaLiga

Claire Bloomfield, Head of Women’s Football at the European Club Association

Peter Hutton, Director of Media Partnerships, North America

Alejandro Irarragorri, Founder and Chairman at Orlegi Sports

Dan Porter, CEO at Overtime

They, along with all the other speakers, will offer timeless insights and wisdom in Sevilla in what promises to be the biggest event in the company`s history.

Similarly, the executives and main decision-makers from some of the biggest brands in football such as FIFA, UEFA, LaLiga, Meta, Microsoft, DAZN, Hudl, or Nielsen will provide their support in making the event a reality which will also count on the first-ever representation of Sports Ministers from countries around the world.

WFS Co-founder, Jan Alessie, in an exclusive conversation with fcbusiness explained: “We are ecstatic to see positive signs that the event will be our largest ever and it has been remarkable to see how many of the industry’s main decision makers have not doubted one bit to join us for WFS Europe.

“The same goes for some of the biggest brands in the space, as they understand that the business opportunities that are created during the event are unmatchable.

“People have the desire to network again at in-person events and they know World Football Summit is the best place to do so.”

The event would not be complete without its annual WFS Awards gala ceremony the first night. As in previous editions, close to 150 applicants across 10 different categories will be honoured as the people and projects making the biggest impact on football`s future. In the past, leaders like Alexander Ceferin or recently appointed Newcastle CEO Darren Eales, and organisations like Arsenal, Visa or the Bundesliga have been rewarded for shaping the football of the future.

All in all, WFS Europe promises to be an event to remember and those interested in joining are still on time to do so by visiting: www.worldfootballsummit.com
