University of Bolton and Macron Join Forces With BWFC To Provide Over 300 Kits To Local Grassroots Football Clubs
Bolton Wanderers Football Club in partnership with the University of Bolton and official kit supplier Macron has today launched a unique scheme for local grassroots junior football teams to receive a complete football strip free of charge.
The ‘Bolton Wanderers Grassroots Gift of Kit’ initiative will see the Club donate a full set of kits to over 300 grassroots junior football teams in the Bolton area.
Each kit, which will be available in Macron teamwear colours, will also feature the University of Bolton logo on the centre of the shirts.
Bolton Wanderers captain, David Wheater, who will act as ambassador for the scheme, said: “Bolton Wanderers is very much a football club which is at the heart of our community.
“Every single footballer in this country has been involved in grassroots football when they were younger and we all realise the importance of junior football clubs.”
Bolton Wanderers head of marketing and communications Paul Holliday said: “The BWFC Grassroots Gift of Kit is not only about recognising the amazing work junior football clubs do in our community but also to give something back to those who help nurture and develop young girls and boys into potential football stars of the future.
“It would be fantastic to see as many grassroots football clubs in the area as possible apply for this unique initiative.”
Professor George Holmes, the president and vice-chancellor of the University of Bolton, said: “The University of Bolton is delighted to be supporting this initiative which will benefit grassroots football in our town.
“The community of Bolton is at the heart of our ethos as a University and we look forward to seeing hundreds of young people wearing their kits across the town.”
Roberto Casolari, director of sports marketing at Macron added: “Macron has its roots in grassroots sport and we are delighted that Bolton Wanderers will be offering Macron kits to the local clubs and that they will benefit from the quality that Macron is known for.
“Junior clubs are the birthplace of all future professionals and Macron is very proud of the club for going into the community and helping with the essential work that they do.”
The kits will be available for teams aged from under 7s to under 11s and will also include a goalkeeper’s kit and some additional strips for substitutes.
Clubs who would like to be in with a chance of receiving the kits are asked to register their interest by emailing grassroots@bwfc.co.uk with their contact details.
They will then be issued with a form to complete which will be judged by a panel of club officials.
The successful teams will then have the option of attending a match at the University of Bolton Stadium where they will be presented with their kits and have a photograph taken on pitchside before the game.
The club will then remain in contact with the teams and feature them in its matchday programme and website to see how they progress with their new kits.
