The XXVI International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology saw 2,500 participants from 91 countries that attended over 200 conferences at FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou at the weekend.

The world-renowned congress, organised by Isokinetic Medical Group focussed on the future of medicine in football.

World leading specialists exchanged knowledge and debated a wide variety of topics such as traumatology, rehabilitation, prevention, regenerative medicine and the latest innovations in biomechanics and neuroscience.

Camp Nou was used to host the congress in four different areas and the outside space around the stadium was turned into a village with fun zones, catering and marquees where sponsors gave presentations and 60 collaborating medical companies organised workshops.

The congress also helped to promote the Barça Innovation Hub (BiHub), the club’s strategic project to promote the kind of knowledge exchange that was witnessed this weekend.

BiHub is seeking to become the most important centre of knowledge, research and innovation in the sports industry.

Dr Jordi Monés, commissioner of Barça Innovation Hub, commented: “It is an honour for FC Barcelona to have been able to jointly organise this congress, together with Isokinetic Medical Group, in our home.

“The aim of pursuing and sharing knowledge is one that Barça Innovation Hub shares. It has been an organisational success in terms of the number of participants and the calibre of speakers that have attended over these last few days at the Camp Nou.

“This has allowed us to share experiences related to the world of sport, discover new trends and make plenty of contacts with experts from around the world, who we look forward to welcoming back for the 27th edition of the congress on our premises.”
