Following its recent work to relaunch Southampton FC’s new fan-focused digital experience, digital specialist Delete has been awarded Sitecore’s Global People’s Choice and UK Digital Innovation awards.

For the Global People’s Choice Award, 43 projects were selected for the public vote on Facebook, with the top three entries put forward to the Sitecore judging panel to select an overall winner. Delete fought off stiff global competition from RSPCA Queensland and W.P. Carey to secure the coveted award.

The new site for Southampton FC, which launched in October 2016, is powered by Sitecore and was also recognised for its digital innovation. The Digital Innovation award showcases teams that have built a truly customer-centric online environment on the Sitecore Experience platform, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible online whilst delivering a truly useful and unique website.

Tom Dougherty, Partner & UX Director at Delete commented: “The feedback we’ve received on the platform from the fans, media and the sports industry has been overwhelming, and to ‘do the double’ for both a project and an agency is a phenomenal result for us.

“Our brief from Southampton FC was to create a digital experience which positioned Saints as a trailblazer and innovator within the Premier League, and broke the mould of the standard official club website.

“These awards are the result of a year of hard work from both ourselves and the team at Saints, and the recognition of a job well done.”

James Kennedy, Head of Marketing, Southampton FC adds: “I’m delighted that www.southamptonfc.com has won the Global People’s Choice Award and the UK’s Digital Innovation Award at the Sitecore Experience Awards… Pleased with this platform, and have only completed phase one of the project, loads more to come!”
