Four Of The Most Lucrative Football Club Sponsorship Deals

There is no secret that the world of football is one of the most lucrative businesses in the world. That has been mirrored in history with the deals signed by broadcasters, and sponsorship agreements between clubs and huge companies.

The deals that are being signed show no signs of slowing down either, which means that it only appears a matter of time before a company is paying more than €100 million per season to have their business etched on the shirts of some of the biggest teams. But, what are some of the biggest deals in the 2022-23 season?

Real Madrid- Emirates

As the European champions and one of the most successful teams on the planet, it is no surprise that Real Madrid holds the record for the highest sponsorship deal for the 2022-23 season. It is reported that Emirates are paying €70 million to have their airline on the shirts of last season’s Champions League winners this term.

Madrid remain among the favourites with the list of UK online bookmakers when it comes to La Liga success this term, while they are also likely to put up a stern fight of their Champions League title.

PSG- Accor

PSG is one of the most marketable clubs in the world of football, with huge stars such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar all donning the famous shirt of the Parisians this term.

Therefore, it isn’t surprising to hear that they have the second-biggest sponsorship deal in the world this season, with hospitality company Accor paying €65 million for the privilege. However, it’s likely that the club will be measured on their success on the pitch this term, as they look to win the Champions League for the first time in their history under new boss Christophe Galtier.

Barcelona- Spotify

There has been no secret surrounding the financial issues that Barcelona have been suffering with over the previous couple of years. However, despite multiple reports claiming that they will need to sell some of their best players, it could be argued that they now look stronger than they have in recent seasons following the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Franck Kessie.

Spotify certainly still sees huge potential in the Barcelona brand, as the music streaming company is paying €57.5 million to have their company of the famous blue and red shirts of the Catalonian giants this term.

Manchester City- Etihad

The majority of the other top ten sponsorship deals in the 2022-23 season are held by English clubs. Both Manchester United and Manchester City have deals worth €55 million, with Pep Guardiola’s side still being sponsored by airline, Etihad.

The club will be looking for another strong season in 2022-23, as they have won the previous two Premier League titles. However, Guardiola is likely to be judged on their performances in Europe, as the club look to win the Champions League for the first time. There will certainly be pressure this year after the big-money acquisition of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
