Morecambe FC Appoint Rob Smith As General Manager

Morecambe Football Club has announced the appointment of Rob Smith as General Manager.

 

 

Prior to arriving at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, Smith spent eight years at Fleetwood Town FC, where he eventually became General Manager after holding various positions within the club.

 

Moving into a similar role, Smith will be responsible for the day-to-day management and growth of Morecambe FC. This will involve overseeing all business activities such as matchday and non-matchday operations, commercial and hospitality, marketing, finance and HR, all while ensuring the club operates successfully and sustainably.

 

He will work closely with the Board of Directors to develop key strategies and make decisions which align with the club’s mission and values.

 

Speaking of his excitement after the appointment, he said: “I am proud to be named the new General Manager of such an exceptional football club.

 

“Morecambe FC has huge opportunities for commercial growth and development, so we need to make sure we drive revenue into the club through every possible means at our disposal. As a team, this is something we will be looking into right away.

 

“This is a key time for the football club, and I fully believe that, by having exceptional standards across all our departments, we can ensure a memorable experience for all supporters and impact further the wider community. My key focus is to continue to bring our fans and the club together. If we are successful at this, we can all flourish and develop together.

 

“As a leadership team, we will look to develop a calculated plan as to how we can increase the sustainable growth of the club, enhance our fan engagement activities, improve and develop areas of the stadium whilst continuing to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.

 

“Short term, I am keen to understand all the excellent work already taking place within the club and looking forward to meeting with all key stakeholders and the senior leadership team over the coming weeks. After this, can we look to have a positive impact across all areas to achieve some quick wins to improve the club’s already brilliant offering.”

 

Co-chairman Rod Taylor, added: “We are delighted to have someone of Rob’s calibre lead the football club’s business management and have a fresh pair of eyes looking at everything MFC.

 

“We have been going through challenging times off the field, and Rob’s input in this crucial role will prove vital as we steer the club toward safer waters.”
