Nigel Le Quesne Purchases 25% Stake In Northampton Town

Northampton Town Football Club has confirmed that businessman Nigel Le Quesne has purchased 25% of Northampton Town Ventures Limited, the holding company that owns the majority shareholding in Northampton Town Football Club.

Drawing on extensive experience gained from roles as diverse as personal trustee through to directorships of quoted companies, Mr. Le Quesne provides strategic leadership and management for many businesses, as well as developing the people he works with.

Northampton Town Chairman, Kelvin Thomas, said: “It has been a pleasure to get to know Nigel over the past nine months and many of our conversations have shown we have a shared vision and similar beliefs in terms of football and the football club.

“David and I are excited with what he can bring to the ownership in many areas and his work with Harvard Business School in terms of employee relations and shared ownership is particularly interesting.

“As part of the investment Nigel will join the Board of Directors of Northampton Town Football Club and has already been approved by the EFL’s Owners and Directors Test.

“We will look to draw on his experience especially in the areas of governance and business strategy. We are pleased he has been able to see what we have achieved so far with the club and wants to be a part of the future development.”

Mr. Le Quesne, added: “Having played, watched and loved football all my life and having also been lucky enough to build and develop some successful businesses, I have always been very interested in how both football and business combine in England and therefore an involvement in a club makes a lot of sense.

“The football business is not completely new to me as I was Owner and Chairman of Jersey’s oldest football club Jersey Wanderers FC for 10 years and more recently JTC has been main sponsor of the Jersey Bulls FC playing in the Combined Counties League Premier South.

“I have been particularly impressed with the work in the community at Northampton Town as this is very important to me and I look forward to working closely with everyone at the club to continue the forward momentum it seems to have.

“Having been at the Fleetwood match at Sixfields just before Christmas I have seen first-hand the impact and connection the club has with the fanbase, and I am really looking forward to learning more and using my experience to support the strategic development of the club in many areas.

“Since that game and while the conversations were getting more serious, I have taken a very keen interest in the results and performances watching most games on iFollow, and it’s been great to see how the whole club has worked together to produce the results they have this season.”
