You work specially with academies, why is that?
Youth/Academy setups want to embrace player data insights across individual player performance, physical and psychological aspects. Being able to take their players and monitor trends over a season or more, compare player abilities across a squad/club or even compare their players to 100s of players of a similar age, in a similar position and region – it is a huge advantage to any club to have this within their youth setup. The impact of benchmarking individual youth player performance metrics is one of universally massive potential; an impact we are going to drive here at PlayerStat Data.
Why is player monitoring important at academy level?
We believe it’s important at youth/Academy level due to the development journey and pathway that young players go on across a short number of years, compared to the adult player. A young player at 13 can be a completely different athlete physically and technically in the space of 2-3 years. Also, being able to identify strengths, weaknesses and trends in young players from an objective POV is huge for the player in the long-term.
What data is being collected and why?
Our Soccer Intelligence data platform has five flexible elements, housing data on: Player Performance Data, Physical Data Output, Sports Psychology Insights, Sociological and Coach Assessment. We’ve decided on these five elements on the back of academic research, with these facets being key to a youth player’s development pathway. Giving clubs, players, and parents the full picture of the player’s progression through these elements will provide them with a huge competitive advantage when it comes to the players realising their potential.
