Sheffield United will be serving up a new beer on match days whose name is synonymous with the club, its culture and most famous battle cry from the terraces of Bramall Lane.

Blades who are watching the team’s home fixture with Fulham in Kennedy’s Kop will be able to enjoy a pint of the “Magnet” beer from the concessions before the match and at half time.

Brewed by John Smith’s in Tadcaster, the premium beer has been lauded by Blades fans in the “Annie’s song” match day anthem. The famous Magnet brand first appeared in 1908 when the Blades were a permanent force in the top flight of the English game.

Sheffield United Catering General Manager, Greg Smith, commented: “Working with our pouring rights partners Heineken we have agreed to trial the old favourite on one of our famous stands to see how sales go, if it becomes a favourite once again, we will look to make the beer available across the stadium.”

Heineken’s Regional Sales Director, Duncan Barlow, added: “This was the perfect beer to bring to Bramall Lane for Blades fans as the name of Magnet is sung every time the team appear before the home crowd. John Smith’s is also synonymous with Yorkshire, and we hope the fans will be very pleased with the latest addition to their match day experience.”
