Swindon Town Appoint Michael Doughty As Chief Sustainability Officer
Swindon Town Football Club has announced the appointment of former player, Michael Doughty, as their new Chief Sustainability Officer.
The 30-year-old, who had three spells as a Swindon Town player between 2016 and 2020, will support and advise the football club on its ambitions to become a leading environmentally sustainable football club.
Ahead of the club’s planned purchase of the County Ground, the appointment expected to help ensure the environment is at the forefront of its decision making.
Speaking of his appointment, Michael Doughty, said “Swindon Town Football Club has always held a special place in my heart, and I am delighted the club has trusted me to help it transition to a greener future.”
Doughty joins as the club announce a partnership with his sustainable sportswear brand, Hylo Athletics, which make high performance products for athletes that have a low impact on the planet.
Town Chief Executive, Rob Angus, said: “We are delighted to outline our ambitions to become a greener football club, and we really appreciate the support from Michael in helping us on our mission.
“Ahead our proposed, historic purchase of the County Ground, we feel now is the ideal time to look forward and build a sustainable future.
“Michael will operate predominantly from the Hylo base in London, however, you’ll see him at SN1 on a regular basis as we look to begin work around future stadium improvements.
“Working with Michael and Hylo will provide us with the expertise to help us on this journey as we continue to lay strong foundations for our future.”
