The Rise of AI In The Workplace: Is It Here To Replace Workers?

For decades machines seem to replace work that required human intervention to perform. They have replaced work by automating processes through integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools and applications. With the rise of AI uses employees are once again worrying that AI could bring a repeat of the Industrial Revolution.

AI has been implemented in multiple types of industries to speed up processes. As the population grows demand for products is also increasing and most industries that rely on human labour will find it very difficult to cope and remain relevant in the industry if they function without technologies such as AI.

 

According to PwC research by 2030 a third of the world’s employees are at risk of being put out of work as a result of automation. This automation is likely to affect individuals with the lowest level of education.

 

At the moment we can say the impact of AI on future work isn’t clear yet because AI systems can be found in our daily lives and have become a part of our lives. Artificial Intelligence At Work

As the cost of everything continues to rise companies find themselves in a dilemma as they try to keep their employees and yet they are feeling the pressure to replace humans due to high operational expenses. We see many industries that have already incorporated robotics to perform technical and physical tasks.

 

– Manufacturers of in-demand products are using robot supplier-based companies to get supplies faster and on time.

– Some call centres that used to use human customer care employees now use chatbots.

– Cashier jobs have been minimised with most fast-food companies incorporating touching screens to place and pay for your order.

Robotics has replaced tasks such as seed sowing, crop harvesting, separating carcasses and even packing pallets and doing it faster than any human ever could.

 

We do agree that AI enables advanced digital simulation, strategic asset management, autonomous factory operations, and digital quality management.

 

Although robots may seem like they take away jobs there are still some tasks that need an actual person to do. For example, we need a person to understand our situation when reporting at a police station, but that could be close to impossible if you’re dealing with a robot as they can’t feel or show empathy.

 

How to Adopt AI In A Business

– Understand how AI works.

– Identify the issues that you want AI to solve.

– Assess the potential financial and business added by the AI implementations.

– Acknowledge the internal capability gap.

– Bring in the experts and start with a pilot project.

– Form a task force to create the data.

– Start small.

– Include storage as a part of the AI plan.

– Incorporate AI into your daily tasks.

– Balance out AI in the workplace.

 

AI is here to say and finding ways to work with it is the best option. Even though AI may seem to be taking over, remember there are still some tasks that still need human intervention. Rather than looking at it as an enemy here to steal our jobs, it’s better to embrace it.
