Everton Football Club scooped two prizes at the prestigious Football Business Awards on 3rd November.

The Premier League club took home the Best Fan Engagement and Best Marketing Campaign awards at the glitzy ceremony held at the Emirates Stadium in London.

The Football Business Awards, attended by over 500 guests, recognise and reward the achievements of those working behind the scenes at football clubs across the UK.

The Fan Engagement nomination was based around the club’s close relationship and ongoing work with the Fans’ Forum. The independently elected group of supporters have played a major part in Everton’s work in recent times, including having an impact on both Season Ticket prices and various stadium branding.

The Best Marketing gong was received for the club’s 2016/17 Season Ticket campaign ‘Nothing Will Be The Same’ which also won a Northern Marketing Award last month.

The campaign was focused around the well-known Alan Ball quote, “Once Everton has touched you, nothing will be the same” and featured innovative double exposure style creative which juxtaposed players past and present alongside fans.

A four-minute video was also created which featured four Season Ticket holders each telling their own personal stories of their memories and experiences following Everton. Throughout the video viewers learn about the journey which fans Gerry, Tom, Natalie and Ian have each been on.

Their deep love for Everton is brought to life as they share their first memories of arriving at Goodison Park, their favourite games and players, past and current, as well as their personal stories of the role the Club plays in their lives.

The video was the centrepiece of an extensive multi-platform marketing campaign delivered over a six-month period and a private screening was held in Liverpool city centre to showcase the video with fans invited to attend alongside Everton captain Phil Jagielka.

Everton’s Director of Media, Marketing and Communications, Richard Kenyon, said: “It is obviously very pleasing to have received these awards and to be recognised as best practice within our industry, but the most satisfying aspect is that both awards are in recognition of the work we do in collaboration with our fans.

“Ideas, energy and lots of hard work from both our staff and fan groups – not least the Fans’ Forum – have led to these successes and I’m sure this recognition will give us all a boost to keep up the good work.”
