FC Barcelona & Vueling Unveil New Barça Women Themed Aircraft

FC Barcelona and Vueling have today unveiled the design of the new Barça Women’s plane, which features an image of a selection of squad members.

This is the first time that a European women’s football team in Europe has featured this way on a regular airliner.

The aircraft was presented in an event held in the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport hangar and was attended by most of the women who appear on one of the sides of the design: Aitana Bonmatí, Fridolina Rolfö, Patri Guijarro and Ingrid Engen. Also attending on behalf of FC Barcelona were Elena Fort, vice-president of the Institutional Area, and Xavier Puig, the director responsible for the Women’s team. Vueling’s representation was headed by Sandra Hors, Director of Sustainability, Institutional Relations and Sustainability.

The interior of the plane has also been customised, sporting blaugrana headrests that also include this tagline.

Both parties are especially keen to highlight their pride in being from Barcelona, a city that forms part of their identities with its cosmopolitan, open character and that is constantly reimagining itself.

Vueling and Barça seek to break down prejudices through the empowerment of women, working to offer role models to new generations by highlighting women who have challenged conventions in sectors traditionally linked to more masculine identities.

Xavier Puig, FC Barcelona director responsible for the women’s team, said: “This agreement means exploring new avenues for the expansion of the Barça brand around the world, putting, once again, the women’s team at the forefront of the club.

“This understanding, the result of the meeting of two proudly Barcelona-based brands, is in essence a recognition of the work that FC Barcelona has done to promote women’s sport. We thank Vueling for this emphasis on a team that has broken down established norms and wants to continue making history.”

Sandra Hors, director of institutional relations, communication and sustainability at Vueling, added: “We are particularly proud of this historic alliance with the Barça women’s team, one which has been able to move the world.

“A union that highlights the values shared by both entities: our origin in Barcelona, the city that unites us, our commitment to female talent and the will to change the world and do things differently.

“Thanks to Vueling, FC Barcelona has become the first European women’s football team to have its image projected on a plane, an iconic action that highlights the potential of these players as role models for new generations.”
