Passionate Silva Enjoying Life Back in Premier League
Marco Silva has done a terrific job since taking over at Fulham. After guiding the Cottagers to promotion as EFL Championship champions last year, Silva has made Fulham very competitive on their Premier League return. Can the London side hold out for a top-ten finish?
Fulham Holding Their Own
Fulham has had a couple of instant relegations in recent years, but the Whites are in no danger of going down this term. For those looking to place Premier League bets, you can get 4/9 for Silva’s side to finish in the top ten. Naturally, the promoted clubs from the Championship are usually the Premier League betting tips for relegation, but Fulham has proved the doubters wrong this term.
Staying in the top tier would have been the priority before a ball was kicked, but Fulham is aiming much higher after a stunning first season back in the Premier League so far. Europe may be a step too far, with the Cottagers available at 66/1 to finish in the top six. The top half seems more likely.
Silva Having Another Crack at Premier League
Silva did well at Hull City back in 2017, which was his first job in England. He failed to keep the Tigers up, but he did enough to impress the Watford board, and the Portuguese signed a two-year contract at Vicarage Road.
He left Watford in January 2018 and was appointed Everton boss a few months later. Silva had a mixed time at Goodison Park, guiding the Toffees to a 4-0 win over Manchester United and an eighth-place finish in his first year in charge. However, after an embarrassing 5-2 loss to rivals Liverpool in December 2019, Silva was sacked.
The Portuguese manager took time off and waited for the right job to arise. Fulham – who had just been relegated from the Premier League – came in before the start of the 2021-22 Championship campaign, and Silva signed a three-year deal.
He hit the ground running at the Cottage, guiding Fulham to the Championship title with ease. They racked up 90 points and scored over 100 goals. Silva was back in the Premier League and had unfinished business in England’s top tier.

Silva’s Fiery Approach Having the Desired Effect
Fulham has been extremely competitive on their Premier League return. A battling 2-2 draw with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on the opening weekend set the tone, and the Londoners have not looked back since. They have picked some great results along the way, seeing off rivals Chelsea at the Cottage, and winning at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Silva’s passion on the sidelines has put him in hot water on a few occasions this season, but his attitude in the dugout has helped his side compete on the pitch. However, he has overstepped the mark at times.

After impressing in west London, Silva is being linked with big jobs. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Silva and Fulham, but the supporters will be enjoying the ride while it lasts.
