Women's Super League & Championship Attendances Pass One Million Mark

The Women’s Professional Game has confirmed that the cumulative 2023-24 attendance for the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship surpassed one million for the first time during the latest round of fixtures.

Having seen the previous Barclays WSL cumulative attendance record of 689,297 – set in 2022-23 – broken earlier this term, games across the two leagues have continued to draw huge crowds.

And courtesy of this weekend’s round of matches across both divisions, the total number of attendees this season has broken through the seven-figure mark.

This milestone comes off the back of a record-breaking season across the board, with over half of the 24 clubs having achieved their own record league attendance this term, including a highest ever cumulative attendance across the second tier.

Speaking following confirmation of the record, Nikki Doucet, CEO of the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship, said: “We’re thrilled to have broken through the one million mark for our cumulative attendance across our leagues.

“Huge credit must go to our clubs and the work they have done in this space – whether it’s the players on the field or those working behind the scenes, this has been an incredible collective effort across the board.

“This season has been one to remember for so many reasons, but surpassing one million in attendance across the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship really does speak volumes about the interest in women’s football in this country.

“This is only the beginning of our journey however, and we’re so excited to see these records hopefully be broken time and time again in the years to come as our game continues to grow.”
