Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors enhance the matchday with ‘next gen’ stadium LED screen technology from ADI.

Wigan Athletic FC and Wigan Warriors Rugby League club are set to install a new 60m2high resolution LED screen at the DW Stadium ahead of next season. The new display, provided by stadium technology experts, ADI, will be a significant upgrade to the matchday experience.

The large format screen will create an exciting platform through which to connect the clubs, their partners and fans. The solution delivered by ADI will be used by EFL football team, Wigan Athletic, and Super League side, Wigan Warriors, who share the stadium.

Fans of both sports will now be able to experience fan-rousing content, live match feed and replays on the big screen.

Offering further flexibility for how the two clubs can use the screen to engage and inform fans, ADI will provide pitch side camera infrastructure that can be relayed to the big screen. It means fans can get a different perspective on the match and see interviews from players, managers and pundits live in the stadium.

The screen itself uses ADI’s new 10mm pixel stadium LED technology, which offers better viewing angles and richer contrast compared to more traditional forms of stadium LED. It is one of the highest resolution displays in any UK stadium, giving fans a superior viewing experience.

Wigan Athletic’s, Jonty Castle, Head of Business Development and Customer Experience, commented: “We’re committed to delivering the best possible experience for our fans, which is why we appointed ADI to provide the solution for our new stadium LED screen. They not only offer industry leading display technology, but they really understand how to engage fans through content.”

“We’re excited for the start of next season. We’ve got some big ideas for how we can use the screen to bring the club, our fans and our commercial partners all closer together on a matchday.”

ADI’s Client Engagement Manager, Claire Fitzgerald-Firth, added: “The clubs came to us with a clear brief – to deliver a quality stadium display that will help transform the matchday experience. Thanks to our new high resolution LED technology, combined with our understanding of how to use content to engage fans, we really feel we’ve achieved that.”

“Because the DW Stadium is a multi-sport venue, we’ve designed a solution that provides a flexible platform to engage fans of both football and rugby league and we’re looking forward to working with the clubs to help them deliver an exciting matchday experience.”
